And then she says something like she wasn't serving HIM, she was serving their CAUSE, and seeing as how he's become a threat to that cause, she has no choice but to kill him.

Believe me, I've been wanting to write something like that ever since Team Seven reunited. But I've decided to keep the 30_tortures themes focused on the time frame of when she was stuck in Sound/before she returned to Konoha. And then move on to the rest of my headcanon afterwards to give me more of actual canon to work with.
